16TH STREET BATH
Resting at the base of the Boulder Colorado Foothills, this primary bath has transformed into an enjoyable space that invites you to unwind. Working closely with the client and her contractor, we chose a design that would utilize the beautiful, bright lighting and create a natural, peaceful atmosphere. The original alcove tub, dark tile, outdated vanity, and wall between the shower and bathtub made the space feel small and closed off. By removing these elements, we opened up the room and maximized the use of natural lighting throughout. We replaced the alcove tub with a large soaking tub to utilize the space underneath the window, allowing the light to spread to the rest of the room. The original vanity piece was the perfect size however, it did not fit with the overall design. My client wanted a natural look so I worked with her contractor to design a vanity that would fit in the space and match the overall style.
While working with my client, I noticed that she gravitated toward neutral tones and organic textures. She loved the hand-made look of the pearly subway paired with the marble hexagon mosaic. The medium gray, slip resistant floor tile she selected tied in with the gray veins in the marble mosaic and in the quartz countertop. The brushed brass plumbing fixtures and matching accessory suite created the perfect balance of luxury and familiarity for this peaceful primary bathroom.
